In response to the two named storms having the potential to adversely affect the southeast coastline within the next week, the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church is gearing up its “Flood Bucket” aid program.
A Flood Bucket’s inventory is designed to provide flood victims with items desperately needed to clean houses damaged by floodwaters.
To fund future relief efforts, The United Methodist Conference Center in Columbia is accepting flood bucket donations. The cost to equip a flood bucket is $50. Checks can be made payable to the Conference Treasurer and can be sent to 4908 Colonial Drive Columbia, SC 29203. Please note on the check that it is for Flood Buckets.
Contributors may also assemble their own, fully stocked “flood buckets” and deliver them to the Columbia conference center. A flood bucket inventory is listed below.
For more information, you may contact Matt Brodie, director of communications, at 803-786-9486, ext. 265.

(Anon): I was not able to attend the event. What major change or reinforcement did the attending clergy take away from this. (09/18/08)
(Anon): I am not sure all the clergy took the same things away, and I really can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I believe some came away with a new outlook on there ministry. Others with just some new ideas about how to get there congregations involved. (09/19/08)
