The DCA is Here

DCA stands for Daily Christian Advocate.  It is the three volume set of books for General Conference Delegates that includes a handbook with the rules of the General Conference and a list of all the delegates, along with two volumes of Reports and Proposed Legislation divided up by legislative committee.

We're talking 1500-plus pages of stimulating reading to be digested between now and April 23.  Of course, that doesn't count all of the additional books that people send delegates to read in hopes they will be convinced to take a particular stand on an issue.  Or all the booklets and cds that general boards and agencies send out to convince delegates to support their programs and budget requests.

I also received a guide to prayer for delegates that begins on March 12 and continues through General Conference.  It is put together by the Upper Room on behalf of the Council of Bishops.  The card from Bishop Huie said that the Council of Bishops has been and will continue to pray for General Conference delegates.

I hope the rest of the church is praying for us too.
