God Speaks in Community

We started up our 6-week women's Bible study this week.  There were some new faces along with the folks who participated last fall.  One of the questions we discussed was why it was important to study the Bible in a group.  By the end of the evening, we had answered that question by what we had experienced.

Several women either shared in the group or shared with me afterwards that God had offered them a particular word of direction that they heard in the midst of our discussion.  One woman even said that she had not wanted to come to the study because she had been really struggling with God about something, but that God had spoken to her during our discussion and had eased that struggle.

I thank God for the opportunity to listen in community for God's direction.  And I rejoice in the opportunity to hear God's voice through my sisters in Christ and at times, to speak God's voice to them.  What a gift.

Kathy: Isn't it amazing that what's good for our minds is good for our bodies, is good for our souls, and vice-versa! (01/28/07)

Georgianna Kelly: I lead a group at our church and we chose the name Faith Journey. It is open to all but we meet on Tuesday mornings so most of the women are retired. One of our ladies attended a seminar in Sante Fe on Mental Health and one of the speakers emphasized the importance of - community - and since that time, I hear a lot about the importance of community as a tool to maintain good mental health. Our Faith Journey group is about 15 people and we meet weekly to learn, share, laugh, and support one another on our Faith Journey. (01/28/07)
